Hip-Hop has been sounding very generic to me as of late and I really can't give anyone my full attention albeit a few emcees, and Pill is one of the few emcees that really needs to be heard. I was at a friend's house and MTV was on, I heard 'Hear Somebody Comin' for the first time, the beat is what initially caught my attention, I liked the production a lot, anyway, then I heard this new cat who I had never seen or heard before just tearing' it up with his flow, he has an incredible Mic presence and maintains a very unique and consistent style throughout the entire mixtape, although his influences from Outkast and Nas, among others, are quite apparent, he is still doing is own thing and brings an air-tight flow to the game that has no doubt been perfected through his many years of hard work, dedication, patience and struggling before getting to where he is today. His content is far from boring, it's like he's just been waiting for the world to hear what he has to say, and I think that's what I like about him so much, similar to Eminem, he talks about issues and topics that are very personal to him and so many people can relate to where he's coming from. His style/swag is just off the charts, even noted by the man himself, he says something like "..the swag make your eyes pop out like a choke-hold', he paints very vivid imagery through his wordplay and it really entices you and engages you in his music, he brings you along for a ride and you can't help but enjoy every second of it. He has a lot of energy, constantly changing up his flow and rhyme schemes, alternating from A-B to AB-AB rhyme patterns, more than your average cat, not like elementary Gucci Man-style raps, if you actually know Hip-Hop, you'll appreciate how Pill brings what he's saying to the table, all about the flow, and he's like a hybrid of all my favorite rappers rolled up into one package. Pill has a lot of energy and you can feel his struggle, he's the real deal, I've been spinning The Refill (4075) for two weeks straight and I cannot see myself taking it out any time soon, I love it, every song...fire. If you're just hearing about Pill for the first time, do yourself a favor download 4080 (The Prescription) and 4075 (The Refill), burn them to a CD and just drive..
